The Callowhill-Chinatown project was meant to create an active, mixed-use community within the existing urban fabric of the Philadelphia site. After inventory and analysis we developed thorough understanding of the spatial and dimensional qualities of sustainable dense urban environments in the neighborhood, we found varied degrees of opportunities for developing a sustainable, mixed-use, walkable community in site that includes affordable housing and an open space network. The design helped us to understand and apply the themes of urban form, building density, civic open space, mixed land use and the integration of parks and greenways.
